Personally, I’m willing to wait for quality. We’ve waited this long, we can wait a little longer. I know we all have mixed feelings on this, since our epic betrayal w/ QOTD (but even then some ppl do enjoy that movie, surprisingly) but let’s try to be cautiously optimistic *u*

And BY THE WAY, just bc the cover of the script had “Interview with the Vampire” as the title for this project, that doesn’t mean he’s redoing that movie exactly. 

I think we’ll be getting the Interview with the Vampire Lestat, this time around.

Boone has to incorporate at least some of Louis’ story, and then get the ending back on canon track, bc movie!IWTV ended w/ Lestat and Daniel driving off into the sunrise*. Lestat was basically giving Daniel the choice to join him.

*If that ship (Lestat/Daniel) were to sail, then alot of canon after that would have to be reworked. 

Found your VC casting list when musing about one of my own. What do you think about Gillian Anderson as Gabrielle?

I think she’s frickin’ gorgeous is what I think about Gillian Anderson.

Physically, I am pretty attached to Cate Blanchett, Charlize Theron, Michelle Pfeiffer… especially the latter two in terms of their kittenish features. They could all potentially kill it, acting-wise. They’re all about the right age to play the role, as is Gillian. Yes, the Dark Gift makes you younger-lookin’, but I’d still want someone who was closer to the right age at the beginning, anyway, to help combat ageism in Hollywood! And to be more true to the story.

Factoring performance in, I think Gillian would be great, too. For one thing, she could beat Brad Pitt right into the ground with her eye-rolling skills alone (he does so much of that in IWTV!), the art of which she had perfected 20+ years ago.

Hello ! First, I just want to say I absolutely love your blog. It’s amazing, I’m so glad we have you to keep the fandom alive ! What brings me here is this: I just started watching a series called Versailles (about Louis XIV’s reign) and I swear I cannot see a single scene with the guy that plays the King’s brother (Alexander Vlahos) without thinking he would make a perfect Louis. Everything matches: the depressive mood, the gayness, and his looks too ! Can I ask you your opinion ? La bise <3

They’re Murder Brothers! It’s so complicated.

MOSTLY tho, surprisingly, their innate curiosity and respect for each other outweighs all the horrible shit they’ve put each other through. Which has been ALOT. Lestat destroyed Armand’s coven dictatorship by being his usual ray of obnoxious sunshine The New and Improved Parisian Vampire 2.0; Armand did help orchestrate the death of one of Lestat’s fledglings and maybe tortured her, too??? before manipulating another of his fledglings into a 100 yr relationship… there’s more than that, but those are big ones.

They seem to be over it all, they’ve made a kind of peace, but they have that contentious kind of rivalry and competition that brothers have.

AR was doing this Fan Questions for Lestat thing awhile back, and Lestat spoke directly about his feelings towards Armand, and I think “he” put it very well:

“Armand’s thoughts are almost impossible for me to penetrate, and his boyish countenance often reveals nothing of his true calculations and feelings. I love him and I respect him — and I know that he loves me — but I never for a moment imagine I’m entirely safe with him.” [X]

And: “I love Armand deeply. My view of Armand has evolved over time. The less I fear him, the more I love him. And the more I suffer, the more I come to understand Armand’s suffering. I have never doubted Armand’s love for me. We are kith and kin, Armand and me.” [X]

I think you have to consider how Armand feels towards Lestat, too.

Hi, I’m asking you because I don’t know where else to turn (pun intended). I’ve been a fan of Rice’ books, and vampires in general, since my early teens (so around 15 years or so) and I have recently started to regain my interest. However I find myself in the same pickle I was in when I was a teen: There is no complete register over all the different kinds of vampire lore from all the different works of fiction, or at least I can’t seem to find one. Do you know if one exists? And if so, where?

Hello! Ah yes, a very good question.

I’m not surprised that you’ve been into vampires in general for 15 yrs. Vampires are such good stuff and can be written/depicted/analyzed in so many different forms and variations. Limitless possibilities really, bc creative ppl can choose to stick to the more classic rules about them, and others throw them away, or explain work-arounds… limitless possibilities! JUST LOOK AT THESE SPECIMENS:

Lestat is THE ONE THAT DIDN’T GET INTERVIEWED but let’s all acknowledge that IWTV was at least 65% about him… also bonus points to THE HALF-BREED ASSASSIN w/ a sword out, inching up on THE SPARKLY ONE…

As for a complete register over all the different kinds of vampire lore from all the different works of fiction, I think that would be fairly difficult, unless it was online and consistently researched and updated by more than one mere mortal.

These lovely ppl are being tagged bc they may know of such a register: @askavampirologist​, @gothiccharmschool​, @annabellioncourt​, @forthegothicheroine​, @fyeahgothicromance​, @vampiressuck24​. Anyone else who might help out on this is cordially invited to answer, too!

Every vampire compilation I’ve ever seen in a library or bookstore has been a curated collection only showing specific examples of different vampires, presumably so that the author could move onto other books/projects!

My own blog is a curated collection. While I feature other vampires in my #vampire tag (from the Lost Boys, Only Lovers Left Alive, What We Do in the Shadows, etc.), I actually don’t love all vampires in fiction (*cough* Twilight *cough*) enough to make this blog the register that you’re looking for 😛

I had an interview today. They asked me what I read recently, and I immediately said Vampire Chronicles with no regrets. Both of the interviewers were fans, and we gushed for two minutes. I think VC helped me into college.

VC also won over a work person for me. We started off on fairly bad footing, and over time, I let out little hints that I was into VC. She reciprocated, and eventually we became friends over it! We no longer work together but she is one my fave ppl. We thank Lestat for the gift of bringing us together!

Every time I look at your art I get so depressed because I know I will never be that good.

Can I tell you a secret, though? My favorite style of art isn’t mine. It isn’t realism.

I like what I make because it feels the most like me. And I like lots of kinds of art, but my favorite styles that I like looking at the most are probably not what you’d expect from a photorealist. I like things like animated gifs and fan art and street art and vaporwave and amateur comics. I like selfies and cosplay and little kinky cartoons and monsters and cats in space. You know why that stuff is my favorite? Because it’s not about being “good.” Or being realistic or whatever. It’s about being yourself. To me, “good” art is when you can see the artist in the art. My favorite style of art is the artist.

And everyone is already themselves, you know? Everyone has opinions about what is pretty or what inspires them. Everyone has an artist in them. You just gotta figure out how to show it, which you will. All it takes is time and practice.

I already think you’re good. ❤
