Just gonna say it: vampires, periods, how do you react?

Dora and Lestat shared a very intimate experience in Memnoch the Devil that had not occurred in canon before, and has not happened since, but it’s a situation that anyone interested in vampires might have wondered about before. Lestat was exhausted and very badly upset, it had been a long trip, and Dora seemed happy to console him in this *very special* way.

So I don’t deny that it was gross and bizarre but I think of this scene – at certain monthly intervals – and consider it from her perspective. She seemed to like it. He seemed to like it. It went from dubcon to consensual in about 3 seconds… and she seemed empty afterwards?? He actually might have saved her a few $ on feminine products?? SUCH A GENTLEMAN.

More specifically, we don’t get alot of detail about it as being different from the blood they consume anyway, but I would think it would absolutely be a different experience, and hey, maybe there are foodie-vampires who prefer it?

Lestat, I think Martin Rolinski might actually be your own son lol (you probably heard that before). What do you think about his facial features? I find him very beautiful.

♛ It’s no secret that I sowed more than my share of wild oats by the time I was fifteen. He is a beautiful creature and you are not the first to make the comparison, Martin very well could be a de Lioncourt. I’ll need to visit him in person and inspect those facial features a little closer, just to be sure… And I try not to turn family members but I admit that my willpower on that policy is weak…

[^X This is Lestat, y’know]

Author’s name is SirGhirahim and it’s on AE3. Please dont answer to the previous ask because I dont want the author to see my opinion and feel sad or unadequete in writing. If you have anything to say please say it by this ask. I love your blog <3

(Thanks for the love for my blarg!)

(^I’m using this pic again in less than a week bc why not? its cool In case anyone else wants to take a stab at it, this is the scissor fic anon asked me about: Alternate Versions of Lestat’s Piano Scene)

So I think I did read this one before, it’s vaguely familiar, I must have blocked it out. There is a time and a place for scary fic like this, and some ppl won’t be able to handle it at all, others might be at least impressed at the plot points.

The anon wanted my opinion on it and my opinion is not to censor fic, no matter how scary.

Beyond that, I don’t want to critique it, the author didn’t ask me to beta it. Anon, if you have ideas on how to improve it, you could write your own scissor fic! This writer is not the first to use them as a weapon.

I really despise Armand, I don’t even know why. I have this hatred for his character. But everyone in the fandom seems to like him…

Are you the Anon who hated Armand from a month ago? Too bad you’re both on Anon bc you could form a club!

[textmeme by armandromanus, who deactivated so I can’t link to it]

Noone says you have to like all the characters, some are in fact antagonists in some stories and protagonists in others, and everything in between, and they can change over time. What AR is telling us is that labeling someone “bad” or “good” or “crazy” is a limitation. Life is not so black and white.

You don’t know why you despise Armand, but you say “everyone in the fandom seems to like him…” Consider this: some ppl dislike a character just because so many other ppl like them. I didn’t like the Beatles at all for a long time just bc so many other ppl liked them, and I wanted to feel like I had my own special taste. I listened to some of their hits, then some more, really gave them a chance… and well… turns out, I like the Beatles.

Give him more of a chance or don’t. Not everyone loves him but he has plenty of fandom love.

OMG! Did you hear about Angelina Jolie divorcing Brad Pitt? I never would of thought those two would separate.

Your message was the first to inform me when I got it 5 days ago! I thought it was a prank but it’s looking pretty real.

I don’t know what to think, I’ve gotten some conflicting information as to why it happened. They’re playing a lot of Angie’s movies on TV (INCLUDING MR. & MRS. SMITH BC DUH), they know we want to see her since it seems like she’s the one initiating the divorce. On the plus side, I finally got around to seeing Maleficent, which I liked. Did you know that baby!Aurora is played by Angie’s daughter Vivienne? It’s a cute little scene.

image

[X] IDK if this quote is really Angie, but whoever said it was right. It sucks when a relationship ends, especially when there are kids involved. It’s their business and their family’s. Sometimes relationships, whether romantic or platonic, need to end. I’ve had mutual and one-sided breakups, it hurts every time.

I hope it’s not all some big publicity stunt bc neither of them need that, their kids definitely don’t need it.

I’d still take either or both of them in the new VC adaptation, Angelina could be Allesandra… Brad could be someone’s victim! Or an evil elder vampire that gets set on fire >;} PUT YOUR FANGS BACK ON BRAD.

BAMF! Louis is my friend , no I don’t really bug him we just sit together and talk about God and the Universe and that everythings connected. We joke and say we knew each other in a past life because we just clicked. So I guess I’m not really Lestat

[Anon refers to this post] Maybe you’re the good half of Lestat, when he’s on his best behavior and everything is all lovey-dovey, which lasts about 12 minutes at a time, lol. Or maybe it’s more like this:

[^X by @sfuffaboutcomics]

That sounds like a great friend, though! Always good to have someone as grounded as Louis who wants to talk about those things ;]

For once in my life Louis, (no, I’m not asking you, Lestat.) I need advice on my love life. I have four men (3?) Pursuing me. And the one I like sends me into a sea of counfusion. His part of him acts intrigued and the other despises me.

image

♠ “I haven’t had the vast experience that Lestat has had,” Louis says as he types. A distant “Hey!” is heard in the background, somewhat muffled by the TV. “I heard that!”

Louis turns back to the screen and continues: “I have, however, had more long-term relationship experience than he has. I can tell you that you do not want to be with anyone who openly despises you, or plays at doing so as if it was a game.” He looks up, considering, before resuming: “There have been times when I thought Lestat truly despised me, but if that were so, he would have left me long ago. His anger was due to his frustration with the invisible wall between us, the forced secrecy, and the relative slowness of my adaptation to my nature, whereas he had been all alone and taken to it so easily. Long after that, there were other times that I needn’t mention.”

“We began poorly. We know. What has kept us together is the kernel we each saw in the other of a similar tenacity for life. Despite anything I said or did, he knew I had a will that refused to surrender to Death, even to him. We were also powerfully intrigued by each other.”

“You needn’t choose one of these suitors immediately. Do not place the entirety of the responsibility of your happiness in someone else’s hands. Your lover should support you in your own pursuits, should be altogether intrigued by you, and you should be supportive and intrigued by him.” Lestat approaches, and slumps beside Louis on the couch, reading over the response.

“Don’t tell the person ‘should,’ don’t make it into dull requirements.” Lestat huffs, snaking an arm around his shoulders and drawing him close.

“Those are important elements, no?”

“It will happen naturally, if they are with someone who loves them.” Lestat says, drawing Louis in tighter.

“That’s so.”

“See, I have excellent advice. They should have asked me! Such ‘vast experience.’ A model lover.” Lestat plants a chaste kiss on his temple.

“When you follow your own advice, yes, you are.” Louis smirks.

“Am I not supporting you right now?” Lestat has managed to bring Louis entirely into his lap, gesturing at their position.

“You are indeed. Are you also intrigued by me?”

“I’m – squished.”

“I’ll have to find some way to intrigue you.”

“Putting away that laptop would be a step in the right direction, mon cher.

*Louis hits Publish, and shuts the laptop*

Since you just wrote that you are re-reading TVA: How many times have you read the books? :o And omg how many times have you seen the first movie?

(Yep, I’m rereading TVA and at about 80 pages in, WOW, so much I had forgotten! There is a lot of action packed into this one book.)

“Might as well ask heaven what it sees, no human can know….”

image

How many times have I seen the movie/read the books? Y’know, I have lost count… re: the movie, definitely has to be more times than Neil Jordan has seen it. Maybe more times than it’s editor has seen it. The fact that I have a copy of it to pull gifs and screencaps from makes it so I can watch it frame-by-frame in excruciating detail and even re-edit parts of it to suit my needs…

BTW: This is a good official book I only read 1x and should reread, even if some info might conflict with canon info: The Vampire Companion: The Official Guide to Anne Rice’s “The Vampire Chronicles” This book was published in ‘93, before AR got as responsive over social media as she is now, and she is asked things to this day that she has explained in this book already, so I take this book as being more true to canon than her current answers, which may differ.

I will add that one weekend, around Halloween one year, movie!IWTV was on TV alot, and I ended up watching it 4 times in one weekend and THAT IS TOO MUCH. Even for me.

My favorite viewings are with other ppl though, where we say the lines out loud and make fun of all the stuff that can be made fun of.

As for the books, lost count on that, too 😛

Cut for length, not spoilers.

At some point I’ve gone back to all of the books to look for info, except Vittorio, which is not VC and I didn’t care much for him or his story. Some of them, I’ll admit I only read them start to finish 1x each (like BF, BC, Pandora, PL). It was never important to me to keep track of how many times I had read any of them, just that each time was a different point in my life and with that different perspective I was reading the same stories but I related to different characters and/or was focused on different things.*

I have this weird mixed feeling of being equally ashamed that I’ve read these so many times and being ashamed that I haven’t read them enough times to really qualify as An Authority. Does that make any sense? Pfffft…. I never claimed I was An Authority. I’m just doing my own thing with this addiction and trying to infect others with it and I’m happy to have you along for the ride ;]

*Just for one example, and being very simplistic about it: I related to Claudia when I was 11, and empathized with her frustrations at not being taken seriously as an adult, and later, when I had had child-care related jobs (babysitting, camp counselor, swim teacher, etc.) and was old enough to be a parent myself, I could empathize more with Lestat and Louis’s struggle to “parent” Claudia, who had a very real set of limitations and a lot of pain due largely to those limitations, and they were not at all equipped to handle any of that.

Not wanting to bother you but a while ago you said you’d do a headcanon on Armand after you had done Louis and Nicolas (/post/150171804542/omg-pls-do-nicholas-and-armand), and I just wanted to remind you because I love your headcanons and I can’t wait to hear about your Armand headcanon! Thank you so much! You’re awesome!

[Anon refers to this one right here] Omg, that’s so sweet of you to nudge me on that! And merci for the lovely compliments.

I was away on vacation for almost a week and mostly offline, and I decided I needed to reread TVA in order to properly provide this headcanon. So guess who’s rereading TVA? IT’S ME I AM REREADING IT. I want to see if my impression of him changes this time around, bc my headcanon of him is mostly based on IWTV and TVL.

I’m probably not going to do any major TVA analysis, unless something really strikes me, but I know Armand is a fandom fave, so I want to do my headcanon of him justice.

Same anon here! Okay, thanks for the answer! Guess I’ll read them patiently in order then ;–)

De rien!

On a little further reflection, you can skip: *possible spoilers under the cut*

Pandora – Is mostly about Pandora, and Marius, and their relationship. Pandora’s not really in PL much and their relationship doesn’t have much to do with how Marius is in PL.

Vittorio – This is technically not a VC book, and he has a different origin story and is not part of the VC vampire group.

Blackwood Farm – This is mostly a story told to Lestat and he’s not very invested in it, I don’t think many (any?) of the new characters introduced in this book make any more than a mention or brief appearance in PL. It is also fairly cracky.

Blood Canticle – AR said that PL deviates from canon in that it does not include the hybrid VC/Mayfair Witches stuff, but I think she meant this book specifically, which has Rowan Mayfair, who does not appear at all in PL. It is also very cracky.
