Enjoy the book! I can’t wait to like, actually talk about it with someone and read other people’s opinions!

Merci, yes indeed I am working on catching up to everyone so I can do that, too. So far, so good!

(Hey ppl, comment/reblog on your PLROA progress on this post so @angelicasylum doesn’t have to wait so long for meeee to have smne to talk about it with)

Hiya! So I totally love your blog and just thought that I should get your Lestat’s blessing before I start rp-ing him lol So a quick question to mun and Lestat. I wanna rp Lestat and I have this FC for him that’s not Tom Cruise. It’s Kamijo from Versailles. Tbh, I really feel as though Kamijo is such a good modern FC for Lestat! As long as you ignore race and all that. I was wondering what your opinion on this might be?

Thank you so much! Mun and muse are very flattered ❤ You’ve made our day/night!

You don’t need it from him or me but Lestat absolutely blesses you in this pursuit! And so do I. He’s nudging me happily bc he adores Kamijo, and he wants you to GO FOR IT, and you don’t need to ignore race. Lestat is intrigued as to how he might be portrayed/perceived as a different race, but no pressure if you feel like that’s too much of a challenge. Lestat says to Do the Thing, however you choose to do it. Let me know when it’s ready to promote.

There’s a genderbent Lestat, in @queenofthesavagegarden, Lestel goes by they/them pronouns and will interact with other Lestat RPers. My Lestat loves watching Lestel.

[X] Kamijo is definitely a VC fan, an A+ cosplayer ^_____^

BTW you know who else adores Kamijo? @redversaillesrose and you should probably be friends with them *shoves you two together*

Hello Lestat, I have been a vampire for around as long as you maybe longer, I was born in French inhabited America but returned to France to live up until the end of the revolution. What was/ is your opinion of the atrocities that took place?

//ooc; This has been sitting in my inbox for a month, I’m not a history buff and not into historical politics, and I did ask around, but it’s tough to answer. What would he remember about that? Vampires supposedly have perfect memories. What are his opinions? VC does not get very political.

“By day I almost forgot the vision of the inn, and the darkness. Unless, of course, … I happened upon a public execution in the place de Grave.

And I was always happening upon a public execution in the place de Grave.

I’d wander out of the square shuddering, almost moaning. I could become obsessed with it if not distracted.” – The Vampire Lestat (p.1, ch.7)

He wasn’t a vampire at that point, but clearly those public executions had an impact on him bc he brings it up later as a vampire. Even though he causes death often, death as spectacle is different. Still, he doesn’t suggest that they shouldn’t have done it.

The French Revolution took his brothers, their wives, and all his nieces and nephews, and as much as he despised his brothers, he still took care of his father until the end of his life in New Orleans, and he still had a dream that he turned his whole family into vampires, so what that means to you as a reader is up for interpretation.

Anyone can comment. What do you think any of the vampires’ opinion is/was of the atrocities that took place during the French Revolution?

Out of all the vampires in the Vampire Chronicles which one do you think has the most daddy issues? Random question I know but the thought just popped into my head. Maybe it’s the combination of loving your blog and loving that song called Daddy Issues by The Neighbourhood.

Thanks for the compliment on the blog, much appreciated ❤

I like the song, I’d never heard it before.

Who has the most “daddy issues,” that’s up for debate, and how you define daddy issues, and bc someone with daddy issues can show it in different ways.

VC has a ton of terrible parents, either they’re neglectful, or abusive, or manipulative, etc. A lot of bad fathers, and that’s not even counting bad makers. A bad or absent father can affect someone’s future relationships with their significant others.

Daddy issues implies that a person had a father who:

  • doted on them too much, maybe they’re spoiled and have an enormous ego now; or
  • ignored them or just wasn’t there at all, so the person cries out for attention too much,
  • and everything in between and so much more.

So I’ll open this up, anyone can reblog/comment about the daddy issues! Or maker issues.

Lestat, I’ve always wondered: Do different humans taste different? Like, if you happened upon some spilled blood and tasted it, could you tell who it was from provided you’d had blood from them in the past? What about other species? Can you tell if a person is a witch or a werewolf etc, by their blood?

//ooc; I don’t know enough about the science with blood, but in my opinion, yes, humans taste different to vampires based at least partially on that person’s diet, and I headcanon that they do things to affect the flavor when they feel like going to the effort, like getting their victims drunk or aroused or terrified or whatever.

If placed before him, yes, I think Lestat would have to have previously tasted that blood if he’s trying to identify it. And it would have to be somewhat fresh, I would think dead or dried blood loses a lot of its flavor (and it’s pretty unappealing to vampires anyway).

With mortals, Ricean vampires are supposed to have perfect memories, and I do think Lestat has his favorite types of mortals and/or ways to flavor them with specific drinks/foods/ or provoking them into specific emotions, and he has favorite mortals he visits repeatedly for Little Drinks (unbeknownst to them, probably).

Werewolves might have something of the wolf taste in them and that would be noticeable to a vampire as odd for a human. So yes, I think Lestat could tell if someone was a werewolf.

With witches, I think they would fall under the “if Lestat has tasted their blood before, he can identify them,” but I don’t think there is anything specific to witch blood that would let him know it’s a witch, since witches are mortals who practice a religion. I don’t know enough about witches to know if it changes their blood physically, but if it does, vampires would probably notice.

Heya ! I’ve always wondered about how Lestat would feel about today’s french, how would he speak ? Would he use slang or would he stick to a more polite and noble way of speaking ? (noble slang, seems like Lestat’s jam tho.)

I’m not sure about that specifically, but I think Lestat curses alot more than he lets on in the books.

[X by @mortcharmant, bc ppl tried to curb Lestat’s cursing by spritzing him w/ holy water, didn’t work.]

Noble or not, Lestat loves learning slang and sometimes uses it incorrectly, and that can be hilarious in itself. In general, I think he does try to keep it classy, if possible.

Master lestat may i ask a question of you. What exactly do you look for in a person in order to determine if you want to make them one of the damned? Personality wise more than physical traits and even then do you even look for any specific physical traits?
-forever yours crissabelle laffiate

♛Miss Crissabelle, this is a very difficult question… and I might answer differently now than I would have in the past, and may answer differently in the future.

[X Lestat by HRFleur]

I don’t consider myself “damned,” not in the literal sense of the word. Not all the time, anyway. If I really did, I don’t think I could bring anyone into this life with me. I’ve always seen this existence more as an incredible adventure, why keep it to myself? In the same breath, not everyone can handle it, I can’t just give it out to every striking face and beautiful spirit that crosses my path. There has to be more to it than that.

Superficially, I admit I tend to be drawn to musicians and

dark haired people. Musicians because they have a passion for something, they needn’t be the best at their instrument but that they practice it and it gives them intrinsic pleasure outside of the applause of an audience… music is a language that speaks to the soul in ways nothing else can. Brunets, well, I admit I find them visually appealing, the darkness is a mystery, it begs to be touched, explored. There happens to be plenty of dark haired musicians out there so I can feel free to feed my heart’s desire in lusting after all of them and enjoy them without getting close enough to needing to invite them onto the Devil’s Road with me.

Appearance is always secondary to the inner qualities, and I can’t tell you what specifically those are. At minimum, the person has to know what they’re getting into, yes, you can live this life without killing, but killing is part of the fun as far as I’m concerned! At minimum, I choose people who are whole onto themselves and aren’t looking for me to complete them. People with their own pursuits. I’m not a babysitter. I’m not looking for a babysitter.

It’s different for different people, but I would say that it all comes down to chemistry and I can’t define that for you. Patience is probably the main required personality trait.

The shape of their body does not matter to me, their gender, their age… it’s the indefinable spark you feel in their presence because the two of you are together. More than lust. Simmering joy in being with them, not because they entertain you, but because of what you can be together.

What you’re really asking is what I look for in a lover, because, with certain exceptions to this rule, the Dark Gift is for those who I need to keep with me forever, those who I can’t allow to slip away into the maw of time, if they’ll have me back. I’m not adopting a pet or taking on a student; that seems to end in disappointment sooner or later.

So just being pleasant and charming is not enough. Real relationships have friction. I look for someone whose inner soul speaks to mine in ways no other does, someone for whom the fights make us stronger, because we have an underlying foundation of devotion to each other.

Though I may fall in love easily, I do not fall in devotion easily.
