MOSTLY tho, surprisingly, their innate curiosity and respect for each other outweighs all the horrible shit they’ve put each other through. Which has been ALOT. Lestat destroyed Armand’s coven dictatorship by being his usual ray of obnoxious sunshine The New and Improved Parisian Vampire 2.0; Armand did help orchestrate the death of one of Lestat’s fledglings and maybe tortured her, too??? before manipulating another of his fledglings into a 100 yr relationship… there’s more than that, but those are big ones.
They seem to be over it all, they’ve made a kind of peace, but they have that contentious kind of rivalry and competition that brothers have.
AR was doing this Fan Questions for Lestat thing awhile back, and Lestat spoke directly about his feelings towards Armand, and I think “he” put it very well:
“Armand’s thoughts are almost impossible for me to penetrate, and his boyish countenance often reveals nothing of his true calculations and feelings. I love him and I respect him — and I know that he loves me — but I never for a moment imagine I’m entirely safe with him.” [X]
And: “I love Armand deeply. My view of Armand has evolved over time. The less I fear him, the more I love him. And the more I suffer, the more I come to understand Armand’s suffering. I have never doubted Armand’s love for me. We are kith and kin, Armand and me.” [X]
I think you have to consider how Armand feels towards Lestat, too.

It’s not in Armand’s nature to be simply happy. He has known joy and a sense of belonging at various points in his life; he’s even been in love. Currently he feels a sense of peace in being needed by those he spends time with.
Whether you ship Daniel/Marius or Daniel/Armand, I think Armand spends time with both Daniel and Marius; and feels loved to some extent by the whole coven. Armand likes to pull different members for trips to the galleries or shopping, but his favorite thing is lazing about the house playing chess with Louis or having a lively debate with David on art history, architecture being a favorite topic.
Occasionally he hunts with Lestat, where they can both feel a little more relaxed, away from the scrutiny of others (who actually encourage the friction w/o meaning to do so, just bc they’re afraid it will happen and keep making furtive glances at Lestat and Armand to the point where they do sometimes crack under the pressure and pick a fight over nothing).
If you wanted Armand’s current vampire happenings re: Prince Lestat, which I struggle to accept as canon YES EVEN NOW over a year later i know get out ma faaace here ya go:
According to Prince Lestat, Armand was living in a gorgeous old building (which, of course, he spruced up to his exacting luxurious specifications) on the upper east side of NY w/ Louis, Sybelle and Benji. Eventually Antoine (the unnamed musician vampire from IWTV, Lestat’s alleged 5th fledgling who had gone unmentioned up until PL) arrived at their door and was welcomed by all.
Throughout the story of Prince Lestat, Armand does little other than be supportive of Lestat, in a way that almost seems obsequious. Not much really happens for Armand, he rides out the whole drama pretty unscathed.
So currently he is pretty content with things and enjoying the company of Sybelle and Benji, and whoever else wants to chill with him.
I read Memnoch the Devil as a kind of fanfic of the bible, in which Lestat takes a tour of heaven and hell, gets the behind-the-scenes story for God’s reasons for creating the world, and why he runs it the way he does (he’s a very hands-off kinda parent). The hell portion of the tour Lestat goes on, well, it’s pretty intense. I think we all preferred the heaven part! Lestat sneakily shoplifting parts of the experience bc of course he does; there was no ‘exit through the Gift Shop’ and he needed SOUVENIRS!

I think the first time through, I was right behind Lestat’s shoulder, hanging onto him piggy-back-style maybe, peeking over and hoping at every turn of the page NOT to see Nicki, or Claudia, worried that either of them -or both!- could be in hell and angrier -or in more pain- then they ever were in life ;A; That would have been so awful. Lestat might really have lost ALL of his marbles. It was bad enough when he was faced with an avalanche of his own victims!
“And who stands behind those doors,” said a sombre Helpful Ghost, her beautiful hair shimmering around her in ethereal whiteness, her soft hand on my face. “See there—” … “Your dead, my beloved, your dead, all those you’ve killed!”
“Not my dead,” I cried. I turned and ran… "HELP ME!“ I cried and cried. I never knew such release in screaming, such pure and abandoned cowardice, to shout to High Heaven in this Godforsaken place where cries were the very air itself, and no one heard, no one but the smiling Helpful Dead.
His dead were supposed to be Evildoers, tho, so they should be in hell, right? So he’s been doing a good job if they’re mostly there, rather than innocents in heaven ;]
He does call for Claudia and Nicolas, “Claudia, where are you? Where are you, the one I wronged! Claudia! Nicolas, help me!“ But apparently Memnoch has a way for the dead to achieve absolution, so hopefully, they did.
I’ve only reread that book a few times, and each time I do, obviously I know what’s going to happen, but hmmm… how different would things be if Lestat had gotten another chance at confronting those two? Whether it was real or all a big cosmic trick… would he apologize more? Probably yes. Would they have accepted anything he might say? Probably not.
AND THEN, back with the coven, and his fave murder brother:
It’s comforting that, as he tells the fam the whole story, Lestat himself isn’t 100% sure that he really went on that whole trip. When Armand asks permission to “check” via blood sample, Lestat flatly refuses: “No, all you’ll know is that I believe what I saw, that’s all.” Why is that so comforting? If it was all a lie, then God and the devil may not be real after all, and an eternity of suffering might not await every single one of the vampires that shuffle off their immortal coil! That’s good ;D
But really, if it was all real, who better for God and the devil to have a glorious tug-of-war over than our own Lestat “His Royal Highness Crybaby Awesomesauce Homicidal Hamburger-Brained Moron” de Lioncourt? Pffffft.

Yes, @sheepskeleton is among those she mentioned as great fanartists in our fandom! We do have a bunch more active ones, but there is definitely some gold (older works or works by artists who have only done a small number of VC pieces) in my #fanart tag. All of our fanartists are awesome and some are even open to suggestion, if you send them an ask with a good prompt.

I’m ignoring movie!QOTD bc of reasons We can’t have a real sequel bc movie!IWTV ended w/ Lestat *riding off into the sunrise* w/ Daniel and that’s very not canon. It would be hard to wrangle the story back to canon, or harder to alter canon to allow for that ship (Lestat says he’s gonna give Daniel the Choice, pretty obviously setting it up that Lestat will turn him, and then where would that leave Armand in QOTD? Fledglingless!).
Plus, all the original actors are too old for their original roles, sadly. At one time, Tom Cruise was trying to get the rights (or had them?) for TOBT which I assume he planned to star in. All the gay backlash at the time probably helped kill that project ;A;
((BTW I wouldn’t mind casting them in other roles if they wanted it… Tom could play the Marquis de Lioncourt now…))

Brad, well, I didn’t love him in his animated features (Sinbad, Megamind), so I won’t argue recasting Louis.
