In your relationship with Louis, who loves the most?

I think that is an unfair question.

It’s impossible to tell because we love so differently.

The way I show my affection is through a  showering of lavish gifts, which Louis often condemns as being superfluous and shallow. Whereas Louis expresses love in much more subtle ways, through other intimacies. A flash of a genuine smile, the gentle squeeze of a hand. It sounds as though I fully understand this and have worked around the way our “love languages” clash, but that is far from it. I am saying all of this now from a very analytical standpoint, but there are instances where these differences can be very disheartening to the both of us.

With that being said, however, there is no way to calculate  which one of us loves more. I suppose I am much more prone to grand romantic gestures, but there is no equation that could be employed to figure  the true sum of our affections. I do not believe our bond can be quantified.

I’m scared everyone seems to hate the book. Also they say that it’s like a bunch of fanfics put together like whaaaaat? (Also OMG Armand x Louis 💗? Don’t make start Anne, just don’t)

I haven’t had much chance to read it myself, but from what I’ve heard/read, YES. It’s a Frankenstein-monster-esque collection of the worst fanfic ideas you can imagine. It seems like some of the ideas are direct responses to questions AR has gotten over the years, like (NOT the questions of i-want-my-iwtv​):

  • Why don’t the vampire dicks work?
  • Why can’t they have babies? Twilight vampires can.
  • Why don’t they ever get married?
  • Tell me more about Benji and Sybelle they are so adorable! 
  • What about SCIENCE? What would it be like to get vampire samples in a lab and analyze them?
  • Did Akasha have any kids while she was human?
  • Can someone else be Queen of the Damned? Maharet and Mekare are LAME. 

Armand x Louis… well… Armand will always have a thing for Louis, bc well, who doesn’t? The way Armand is now… not sure what Louis sees in him, but perhaps I’ll find out as I read the heartbreaking work of staggering genius that is PL.

— Lestat here. Well, first of all, I must correct you, as you made a rather egregious misspelling of my “Forever Companion” ‘s name. Louis with an “e” is in fact the feminine version of his name. Tsk tsk.

That aside, yes, if you’ve read my books, you would be enriched with the knowledge that I have tried – several times – to make other companions. Always knowing that none could compare to him. I’ve made fleeting connections with others… David Talbot being someone I have plucked from the jaws of mortality to bring with me into the abyss of eternity, but even he and I never had the level of spark that lives between Louis and I whenever we are together. I can even feel it through his written words, even in the abbreviated communication of texting (and sexting when I can get him in the mood for it!) when we are apart.

It seems that Monsieur de Pointe du Lac is in fact, as the slang seems to go here, my “better half”, that we are an “OTP”. It’s not always rainbows and sparkles, as in any relationship, there are fights, there is space needed sometimes… of course, passionate reconciliation is often well worth that! We tear eachother to pieces, and fashion eachother to completion again.

So yes, he and I both have, from time to time, sought other companions. None have ever compared to what we have together. 

I am sure that he would respond to your question similarly, albeit more concisely.

Another FAN QUESTION FOR LESTAT answered:

Lestat here. And this time, I’m going to answer two questions. The first is from Bridgett Davenport: “Lestat, excluding vampires, who is the most interesting non-human you have met?” —- I would say the ghost of Roger whom I encountered in “Memnoch the Devil.” Roger was the first of my victims and maybe my only victim ever to come back from the dead to talk to me in ghostly form. He terrified me (temporarily anyway), and fascinated me. This was my first real experience with ghosts and how ghost “incarnate.” I don’t want to think of any of my other victims coming back to haunt me, ever. I have come to no first conclusions as to what Roger’s visitation actually meant. —- Second Question: From Elise Miller: “Lestat, you’ve seen so much and lived through so many years of human turmoil, does the current state of humanity irk you, or do you pay little attention to it?” — It’s the opposite, Elise. I’m in awe of the current state of humanity, the inventiveness, the imagination, the technological knowledge, the artistic fertility, and the huge areas of the globe that are at peace. I’m more than ever optimistic about the future of humankind, and all the more sad that I can witness human progress but never be part of it. But I’m an optimist by nature, I must admit. I’m profoundly grateful that I’m able to watch all this from the sidelines, and glory in the new music, the new art, the new humanistic philosophies being developed all the time.

I just watched the director’s commentary section on the IWTV dvd and there seems to be some additional scenes

YES there are additional CUT SCENES and it is a sore subject among the fandom. And Warner Bros/Geffen doesn’t seem to be interested in releasing a 20th Anniversary edition with those scenes as extras *pouts*

Here’s some tags with pics you won’t find in the movie because they’re production stills or cut scenes (or unused shots from scenes that did make it into the movie, or I couldn’t tell the difference so I tagged it as both). Siiiigh. 

There are little bits in the original trailer that have these, for example:

  • a few seconds’ snippet of a Theatre des Vampires stage performance
  • Louis saying something like, “I can’t take this anymore” to camera
  • Lestat saying something like, “I never knew what life was until it ran out in a red gush on my lips.”

I think Neil Jordan also specifically mentions some things but I haven’t watched the director commentary in a loooong time.
